An Immersive Journey Between the Desert and the Sea of Qatar
SANA ART is a space where culture meets art and imagination meets technology. Through interactive experiences and multisensory environments, the spaces transform into worlds that stimulate the senses and expand cultural storytelling.
In this context, the experiences developed by Indissoluble combine digital art, spatial narrative, and interactive technologies to create immersive environments that foster an emotional connection with Qatar’s heritage and landscapes during the celebration of its National Day.
For the SANA ART festival, held in Doha on the occasion of Qatar National Day, Indissoluble designed two immersive experiences that explore the country’s cultural identity through two of its most emblematic landscapes: the desert and the sea.
At the beginning of the experience, visitors encounter two image-capture stations—one for women and one for men. The captured images are integrated into a series of preconfigured scenes inspired by Qatari traditions, where visitors become part of the story. The journey then continues through an immersive tunnel where, through artificial intelligence, visitors’ images are incorporated into Qatari scenes. In this way, visitors become protagonists of a journey that connects memory, identity, and territory.
Spirit of Our Land — Desert Room
Inspired by the traditional majlis, a symbol of hospitality and social gathering in Qatari culture, this installation offers a space for contemplation and cultural connection. Cushions placed throughout the room invite visitors to sit and share the experience, recreating the welcoming atmosphere of traditional gatherings. At the center of the room, a fire simulation synchronized with audiovisual projections creates a focal point that evokes the warmth of the majlis.
The space is surrounded by five projection zones across walls and ceiling, displaying audiovisual landscapes dedicated to Qatari hospitality, traditional legends, and Al Ardha, the country’s emblematic folk dance. The set design recreates desert dunes, immersing visitors in a landscape that connects tradition, territory, and cultural memory.
Deep of the Sea – Sea Room
The second installation invites visitors to dive into another fundamental landscape in Qatar’s history: the sea and the pearl-diving tradition. The space is conceived as an interactive art piece that recreates the sensation of being underwater. Surrounding projections cover the walls, generating a living, reactive visual ecosystem that responds to visitors’ presence and movements.
As they move through the space, participants become explorers of a digital seabed. In the main area, they search for shells to discover pearls inside, evoking the ancient craft of pearl divers. An intelligent interactive system ensures that each visitor can find three pearls, which serve as a symbolic keepsake of the experience. The interaction transforms visitors into protagonists of the narrative, creating an experience where art, technology, and tradition intertwine.
